the very first time i heard about shawarma was when i was in highschool through eraserhead’s ‘overdrive’. mind you, i really do not have any idea what it was. but i have not eaten one until i was in college. i know, poor me. *sob*
in UPLB, i’ll have to say that the most popular shawarma stand is the ‘doner dorum’ which was located at the corner of the parking lot of vega center. i remember back in 1998 or 1999, it only costs around PHP 25 – PHP 29. (LB friends, correct me if im wrong.)
last june, may bf brought me to this place called jacob’s shawarma, somewhere in ortigas. haha. google the exact address, please. *wink* he said, he heard it over magic’s boys-night-out trio, tony-slick-sam. he already tried it with some officemates and he knew that i would love it.
the shawarma is 12 inches. good for sharing.

their cup reminds me of something funny. haha.
oh, the shawarma is very good!!!! you have to try this. seriously. it doesn’t taste like any other shawarma i have tried. i can taste curry sauce. i mean the curry sauce from authentic indian/Mediterranean restaurant. really good.
ok now im hungry and want one of these.
although, one thing i don’t like about the place, is that it will make you cry, literally. the space was air-conditioned and there were too many onions (i assumed someone’s chopping more onions when we arrived) that it will haunt your eyes. when the lady at the counter asked for my order, i said, “wait lang, naiiyak ako.” totoo. ang sakit sa mata.
there were two men eating from another table and they were crying while eating. haha. very funny. like havin’ an LQ.
the guy there, im not sure if that was jacob, that was preparing the shawarma opened the door when he noticed that all of us were in tears.
when we left the place. he said, “sorry for the cry” in his cute accent. *wink*
K
tip: if you plan to eat there, seat at the table nearest to their kitchen. the farthest table on the left upon entering the resto. but dont face the kitchen.

it’s some sort of yogurt baby.

I bet Jacob would give us a discount next time for promoting his shawarma (and making you cry).
